50th CVP: An Overview of the Community Ecosystem Governance Program of Metis
If you are a fan of Metis, you probably know that decentralization is at the heart of their vision. They have been working hard to create a decentralized infrastructure that supports the Metis ecosystem. But they are not stopping there. They have an ambitious roadmap to achieve even more decentralization in the future. And they have just reached a major milestone: With Synthr passing the Snapshot vote, Metis reached 50 verified projects by the community through the Metis Community Ecosystem Governance program (CEG).
Metis is a permissionless platform, but it also introduces governance snapshots to give the ecosystem back to the community. The community can vote on projects that they care about most. Projects can apply through the governance system for consideration, and the voting process empowers the community to verify projects. This informs Metis marketing on promotion decisions.
This Community Ecosystem Governance program (CEG) is the first step towards handing over the Metis ecosystem to the community through decentralization. By introducing governance, Metis enables individuals to use their voices and votes to shape the ecosystem. The addition of Synthr had the largest participation rate in the last month with those voting for acceptance clocking 5.9k Metis YES votes and 0.16 Metis in NO votes.
Benefits of being a Community Verified Project
Becoming a CVP has its perks as it includes;
- Announcement of entry into the CVP on the Metis Governance Twitter and main Metis Twitter.
- Co-marketing.
- Introduction to other CEG verified Projects and collaboration opportunities.
NB: Marketing support is provided for tech utility, anything related to the project’s token will not be promoted
Applying to become a CVP
- Step 1: Project Representative (User) will sign up on Candidac.
- Step 2: User posts Proposal on Candidac.
- Step 3: Does the Project satisfy Proposal Requirements?
- If No: Moderator notifies Improvement Criteria to the Project and moves the project to the ‘Update Requested’ category
- If Yes: Moderator move Project Proposal from ‘Pending’ to ‘Approved’ in the Candidac Forum
- The moderator further adds the project to the Community Announcement Sheet for when the live stream is scheduled.
Snapshot Vote
A community Snapshot is created after the Twitter Spaces using the EXACT text that was mentioned in the Community Builder Proposal. The community gets to vote on Projects they feel are good for the community. A majority pass (80% Yes vs. 20% No) will be needed to acquire the community verification.
A Snapshot vote is cast by committing a number of Metis to the voting address. A minimum of one (1) $METIS is required for voting. Delegated Metis for voting will be returned to voters after the voting process.
Does the vote pass?
If No: The Project will have to resubmit its proposal with the feedback given from the community.
If Yes: Projects get added to the Community Builder Program and will be granted the title of a “Community Verified Project”
